For Employers

Employers are at the foundation of every Registered Apprenticeship Program. Learn more about how to start an apprenticeship for your company.

Why apprentices?

A Registered Apprenticeships Program (RAP) is a proven strategy to develop a durable, skilled workforce for your business. Apprenticeships are simply a training method that combines paid On-the-job learning (OJL) with Related Technical Instruction (RTI). Most often, employers are already doing most of these activities when they hire new employees, but without the benefits of a Registered Apprenticeship Program.

Three Reasons: Retention, ROI, Recruiting Savings

• US Department of Labor data shows a 94% retention rate on apprenticeship programs.

• The same data shows that employers receive $1.47 in return for every $1.00 invented in an apprenticeship program.

• Registered apprenticeship programs are much less costly than a traditional recruiting strategy—with an average savings of $4,700 in hiring costs per-employee.

Action Steps:

  1. Identify the role or position you need to fill.

  2. Define the essential skills necessary to be successful in the job.

  3. Create an account to match with apprentice candidates
